  • Position: Power Plant - Electrical Consulting---- Engineer
    Power Plant Electrical Consulting Engineer: SynchroGrid is looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer for our office in College Station, Texas. The Candidate must hold a Bachelor of Science in Engineering or Technology degree from an ABET accredited engineering school. Have five (5) years of professional experience with employment as an Electrical Engineer in Power Plant environments. He must be able to independently evaluate, select, and apply standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria, using judgment in making adaptations and modifications. He should have developmental experience in a similar professional position or equivalent graduate-level education. Responsibilities -- Lead projects with a team of Electrical Engineers working on power plant systems. -- Interact with clients and take a leadership role in aspects of the projects -- Mentor and direct junior engineers. -- Be involved with project site evaluations, preparing engineering scope documents and writing technical equipment specifications as needed. -- Develop relay settings for Generation Systems using microprocessor and electromechanical relays. -- Develop relay settings for generator protection schemes such as generator and step-up transformer differential, and other protection elements such as loss of field, positive and negative sequence overcurrents, etc. -- Perform Arc Flash studies for high and medium voltage system in ETAP software. -- Perform proper evaluation of NERC PRC-002, PRC-005, PRC-019, PRC-024, PRC-025, PRC-027 standards for transmission, and generation systems. -- Perform short circuit studies using ASPEN/CAPE/ETAP. -- Perform fault analysis of fault records. -- Review project schedules and work with project engineer to ensure projects remain on schedule. -- Properly use the document management system. -- Apply corporate standard engineering practices. Skills & Qualifications -- B.S. in Electrical Engineering or equivalent work experience. -- Minimum of 5 years related work experience in developing settings for generation systems. -- Must be registered as a Professional Engineer (PE). -- Experience with power plant medium voltage designing MCC control centers, motor installation, etc. -- Experience with Arc Flash development in power plant environment. -- Experience with power plant protection and control design. -- Experience with protective relay applications and industry practices. -- Experience with developing relay settings for SEL, GE, ABB, electromechanical relays, etc. -- Experience with ETAP software packages. -- Experience in developing calculations and reports for NERC PRC-025, PRC-019, PRC-024, PRC-026. -- Ability to travel up to 20%. -- Take personal responsibility for the quality and accuracy of his/her work. -- Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment. -- Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills. -- Ability to work independently or closely with others. -- Very strong computer and business software skills. -- Exceptional organization and "get it done" skills. -- High attention to detail.
