Required Education and Experience: * High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience * Two years of related experience in building or mechanical maintenance work Required Licenses and Certifications: * Valid Class C Driver's License or the ability to obtain within 30 days of employment Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: * Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others Other Requirements or Other Factors * Ability to work in all weather conditions * Will be required to work overtime, weekends, occasional holidays and all home football games Preferred Experience: * Experience emphasizing air conditioning, electrical and plumbing maintenance * Experience with mechanical repairs and welding * Experience in painting facilities or striping parking lots Preferred Licenses and Certifications: * Certification or license in one or more of the mechanical/electrical trades Responsibilities: * General Maintenance- Is responsible for general maintenance and repair of parking-related buildings, facilities, and equipment to include the installation and repair of building fixtures. Repairs and maintains machinery and mechanical equipment such as pumps, engines, motors, compressors, blowers and pneumatic tools. Lubricates and cleans mechanical parts. Sets up and operates drill press, grinder, welder and other metalworking tools to repair or fabricate trailers, equipment or building components, etc. * Special Events - Assists with special event support as needed, which can include placing and recovering signs, traffic devices or other equipment used to control traffic/pedestrians. * Signage - Assists with assembling vinyl signage and installing parking lot, garage, informational and way finding signage. * Maintenance/Barricades - Assists with periodic, labor-intensive functions such as football game support, pothole repairs, routine maintenance of facilities (RV parks, garages etc.), etc. that unit is charged with supporting. * Parking Lot Maintenance - Periodically, assists with painting/striping parking lots and facilities as assigned, which includes pressure washing, grinding, sand blasting, laying out stripes or markings, painting, applying thermo-lay traffic markings, cleaning of painting tools, painting structures, repairing woodwork, repairing plaster and repairing/laying tile. * Security and Safety - Promotes security of vehicles, facilities, and safety to assure that the unit follows policies and procedures. * Campus Signage - Is observant of areas and items that require attention/repair such as signage, barricades, painting, as well as other opportunities across campus. * Electrical - Periodically, assists with electrical projects as assigned, which includes installing conduit, pulling wire, installing fixtures, repairing or installing electrical systems and components, replacing light bulbs and other similar duties. * Departmental Objectives/Customer Service - Transportation Services is committed to providing courteous, responsive, quality service to our customers by fostering a respectful, positive, and welcoming environment for all. Employees are responsible for the following: representing the department to internal and external customers by actively supporting diversity; maintaining 100% on time compliance with all university required training for all employees; approving time worked and requesting appropriate leave in a timely manner; reading and responding to e-mail; reviewing/reading information listed on the department intranet; performing assigned tasks in a safe manner and utilizing personal protective items/equipment as appropriate or instructed by supervisor or department; reporting unsafe actions or conditions to supervisor immediately and supporting and following unit/department safety guidelines, practices and policies. Persons in this position will be required to drive state vehicle to travel to various parts of campus and are considered essential when the University declares an emergency, campus closure, class cancellations, etc. Performs other duties as assigned.
