difference in the world! The Digital Communications Specialist II
plays a critical editorial and digital role across Texas A&M
AgriLife’s integrated marketing and communications team. This
position serves as a content creator and editor for AgriLife’s
digital content, ensuring consistency, quality and best practices
across all AgriLife email communications, including newsletters,
AgriLife Today, LiveWhale, brand websites and other digital
platforms to support strategic, digitally focused storytelling
across channels. This role blends editorial judgment, digital
publishing expertise and strategic communications support, working
across teams to elevate the clarity, effectiveness and impact of
AgriLife communications. The ideal candidate is a strong editor and
writer, highly organized, digitally savvy and comfortable balancing
day-to-day production with longer-term strategic communications
needs. Responsibilities: Newsletter Editorial Coordination Serve as
the central editor and quality-control lead for externally focused
AgriLife newsletters. Edit newsletters for clarity, structure,
accuracy, brand voice, accessibility and digital best practices.
Ensure newsletters follow established standards for: Subject lines
and preview text Content hierarchy and scanability Calls to action
Accessibility and compliance Partner with content creators to
improve newsletter effectiveness through constructive editorial
feedback. Create and manage marketing & communications
leadership-identified newsletters, including drafting, editing,
scheduling and coordination. Maintain and support mailing list
accuracy and hygiene, working with team members to ensure
appropriate segmentation and updates. Help evolve newsletter
strategy over time by identifying opportunities to improve
performance, consistency and audience engagement. Manage the
newsletter calendars, including scheduling sends, assigning
editors, updating scheduled workflows and liaising with the Texas
A&M Foundation newsletter calendar. Writing & Strategic
Communications Support Write and edit content across digital
channels, including: AgriLife Calendars Web and digital newsroom
content Short-form content Other supporting marketing and
communications digital materials Support digitally-focused newsroom
content, ensuring stories are structured for online audiences and
multi-channel use. Assist with cross-channel storytelling by
adapting content for email, web and other digital platforms.
Collaborate with media relations, editorial, marketing and social
media teams to align messaging and timing. Digital Best Practices &
Coordination Apply and reinforce best practices for digital
publishing, including: Audience-first writing Clear headlines and
summaries SEO-aware structure Accessibility standards Support
content planning and coordination across teams to ensure
newsletters and digital content are aligned with broader
communications priorities. Track and monitor digital performance
metrics and flag trends or opportunities for improvement. Other
Duties as Assigned Required Education and Experience: Bachelor’s
degree in communications, journalism, marketing, English or a
related field, or an equivalent combination of education and
experience. Two years of related experience. Required Knowledge,
Skills, and Abilities: Strong editing and writing skills, with the
ability to improve clarity, flow and effectiveness of content.
Experience producing or editing newsletters, email campaigns or
digital publications. Familiarity with digital publishing platforms
and email marketing tools. Strong organizational skills and
attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple projects and
deadlines in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. Ability to
multitask and work cooperatively with others. Preferred
Qualifications: Experience working in a marketing communications
team, or higher education communications environment. Familiarity
with audience segmentation, email performance metrics and content
optimization. Experience adapting content for multiple digital
channels. Working knowledge of accessibility standards and digital

Need to Know Salary: Pay grade 9. Compensation for this position is
