For more information, please visit us at www.xylem.com. The Role: Xylem is seeking Intern Candidates with a Continuous Improvement or Industrial Engineering background to join our team. You will use knowledge of the industrial engineering and continuous improvement discipline, processes and tools in order to impact and drive customer focused improvements and contribute to overall improvement initiatives. You will be a member of a cross functional team where communication and learning skills are highly valued. You will work closely with our manufacturing and quality teams in the day to day activities involving documentation, assembly, testing, and inspections. Essential Duties/Principal Responsibilities: * The Intern may lead, or participate in, cross-functional projects to address and resolve manufacturing issues, with regard to the sustaining and continuous improvement of processes and methods to improve safety, quality and delivery, while reducing facility operational costs. * Will be update and/or develop production standard work instructions, and other relevant manufacturing documentation (i.e. Check sheets, checkout forms, etc.) to improve quality, increase uptime, and improve on time delivery. * Observe and evaluate production downtime incidents for root cause and identify and implement corrective actions, point Kaizens, or kaizen projects, utilizing formal problem solving tools and other lean tools. * Participate in continuous improvement Kaizens or action items from Kaizens throughout the facility. Minimum Qualifications: Education, Experience, Skills, Abilities, License/Certification: * Attending an accredited University studying toward a Bachelor's of Science degree in Industrial Engineering or similar discipline with a focus on Continuous Improvement * Excellent oral and written communications. * Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment to meet aggressive goals and high quality standards Physical Demands: (The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
