Texas A&M University Libraries has an exciting opportunity for
a Cataloging and Metadata Librarian to join our team onsite in
College Station, Texas! You'll manage repository metadata and
cataloging records for our digital and physical collections, to
meet the research needs of students and faculty.
In this role, you'll be responsible for creating, maintaining, and
enriching metadata to ensure our library resources are easily
discoverable and accessible. You'll stay ahead of emerging
technologies. Quality control is key and you may assist in auditing
records for accuracy and completeness . You'll collaborate with
other library departments to foster relationships and support the
discovery and access of library resources. Additionally, you'll
provide training and support to various staff and librarians,
enhancing their skills in cataloging and metadata. This role has
the potential to grow and develop supervisory responsibilities as
we continue to expand our services.
We are seeking a candidate with experience in Program for
Cooperative Cataloging Standards BIBCO, CONSER, NACO, or SACO and a
familiarity with data analytics and writing SQL queries . Our ideal
candidate will have a strong background in cataloging, record
maintenance and testing, and will be eager to grow and learn about
new technologies!

Opportunities to Contribute:
Creates original cataloging records and performs complex copy
cataloging on non-serial materials according to the appropriate
established national guidelines and local procedures and
contributes to the national (OCLC) and local bibliographic
databases.
Performs original and complex copy cataloging of Cushing materials
[Special Collections].
Supports Coordinator of Monograph Copy Cataloging and other
personnel or teams in formulating and implementing efficient,
effective technical services procedures.
Via professional development, stays current on cataloging and
metadata trends and issues.
Modifies or creates original NACO name and/or series authority
records.
May submit subject heading and classification proposals via
SACO.
Contributes bibliographic records to appropriate PCC component
program (BIBCO).
Participates in ECIP program.
Participates in library and university service activities,
including membership on committees, task forces, etc., related to
professional assignment as appropriate.
May assist with grant projects enhancing Library programs,
facilities, and collections.
Provides metadata for digital collections, either by migrating MARC
data to required format, or by providing original metadata.
Salary: $72,335.00 annually
Location: The selected candidate will be expected to work onsite at
our College Station, Texas location
Qualifications:
Master's degree in library science or equivalent combination of
education and experience.
5 years of related experience
A well-qualified candidate will also possess:
Reading knowledge of foreign language.
Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.
Knowledge of academic library functions.
Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database
applications.
Ability to work in an environment with shifting priorities.
Ability to take initiative and exercise independent judgement.
Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication
skills.
Confidence in public speaking and representing the University's
Libraries.
Ability to resolve conflict
