YesEducational and Experience Requirement Master's degree in
educational assessment or related field. Must possess a valid Texas
educational diagnostician certificate. Valid Texas Teacher
Certification or able to obtain within one calendar year from hire
date. Three years of related experience required. Knowledge of
diagnostic procedures, education of special education students,
human development, and learning theories. Additional education may
be considered in lieu of experience.Nature & Purpose of Position
Implements the special education assessment process and assesses
the educational and program needs of students who qualify for
special education services. Provides diagnostic information and
works cooperatively with instructional personnel to provide the
most appropriate programs for students with disabilities.Primary
Responsibilities Receives student referrals and implements the
assessment and evaluation process. Selects and administers formal
and informal assessments to determine student eligibility for
special education services according to all applicable federal and
state regulations. Collects and organizes relevant assessment data
from student's cumulative folder, classroom teachers(s), principal,
support staff, parents, and outside resource people. Conducts
classroom observations and personal interviews. Schedules and
participates in the Admission, Review, and Dismissal ( ARD )
Committee to assist with interpretation of assessment data,
appropriate placement, and development of Individual Education
Plans ( IEP ) for students according to district procedures.
Consults parents concerning the educational needs of students and
interpretation of assessment data. Consults parents, teachers,
administrators, and other relevant individuals to enhance their
work with students. Develops and maintains effective individual and
group relationships with students and parents. Assists in the
selection of assessment materials and equipment. Develops and
coordinates a continuing evaluation of the assessment program and
makes changes based on findings. Compiles, maintains, and files all
physical and computerized reports, records, and other required
documents. Complies with policies established by federal and state
law, State Board of Education rule, and local board policy in the
areas of assessment, placement, and planning for special education
services. Complies with all district and local campus policies,
procedures, and regulations. Participates in professional
development activities to improve skills related to job assignment.
Writes reports, provides diagnostic information, effective
recommendations, and works collaboratively with all staff to
provide the most appropriate programs for students with
disabilities. Conducts meetings and builds relationships with
families and team members. Represents the district at Special
Education meetings and helps the district stay in compliance with
all federal, state, and local laws. Performs other related duties
as assigned.Other Specifications Must demonstrate strong
problem-solving skills and the ability to develop, implement, and
evaluate effective special education services. Must be able to work
with a diverse population and demonstrate an ongoing commitment to
diversity. All stakeholders are considered learners and are
expected to continue to learn, grow, and positively contribute to
the world around them.Must be willing to travel between zoned
Charter School sites. Sites located in Greater Houston area.In
