What we want

The Information Technology (IT) Generalist II, under general supervision, assists with routine technical support for various Information Technology needs within the College of Education and Human Development. The IT Generalist II will support computer operations, the college's help request system, workstation processes, inventory control and asset tracking.

What you need to know

Please note: This position is required to occasionally work outside regularly scheduled hours as determined by supervisor (in cases of critical system upgrades, critical system support, and/or the timely completion of major information technology projects) it is often necessary to perform upgrades or updates outside normal business hours in order to minimize normal business hours operations.

Required Education and Experience:

+ Bachelor's degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience

+ One year of information technology experience

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

+ Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications

+ Knowledge of both Microsoft Windows and Apple MacOS operating systems

+ Knowledge of Help Desk Ticketing systems such as Team Dynamix or Service Now

+ Knowledge of intermediate IT troubleshooting

+ Ability to work with diverse groups of people and be helpful, respectful, approachable, and team oriented

+ Ability to build strong working relationships and a positive work environment

+ Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others

Preferred Licenses and Certifications:

+ ITIL Foundation Certification

Preferred Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

+ Knowledge of SCCM and/or Apple management tools

Responsibilities

+ Computer Setup and Maintenance - Supports computer operations using SCCM, Jamf, or Nomad to setup and install upgrades and configure IT equipment for faculty, staff, classrooms, computer labs, and office computers.

+ Help Desk - Uses Team Dynamix, the college's help request system to communicate with end users, track and resolve incidents, and run reports.

+ Consultation - Supports the faculty and staff workstation purchasing process by meeting with the faculty or staff members, advising them of the products available, assisting in specifying the system requirements and peripherals, setting up new systems, and providing an orientation of the new systems for the end user.

+ Inventory - Assists with departmental inventory control and asset tracking.

+ Professional Growth - Stays current with new technologies, research, and best practices that impact instruction, teaching, learning, and the delivery of support services. Stays abreast of and proactively supports current research, legislation, and policies related to accessibility, copyright, security, privacy and other issues that impact information technology in higher education.

+ Other - Performs other duties as assigned.
