Qualifications

Required Education:

-Bachelors degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required Experience:

-One year of related experience in in teaching, curriculum planning, or coordinating learning and/or lab activities.

Preferred Education:

-Master's degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

-Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.

-Good communication skills.

-Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.

Preferred Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

-Advanced knowledge of biochemistry, genetics, or related field

-Some knowledge of science education strategies and classroom management

Job Responsibilities

50%: Assists in the organization and teaching of undergraduate classroom instruction to maximize student learning

15%: Maintains office hours for individual tutoring sessions for biochemistry/genetics undergraduate students

10%: Assists with training and mentoring of new teaching assistants

8%: Assists with proctoring of exams and instruction/training of undergraduate students

7%: Maintains office hours for individual mentoring sessions for teaching assistants

5%: Under general supervision, assists with the development of teaching assistant training plans and remains up-to-date with modern instruction practices

5%: Other duties as assigned
