The Department of Small Animal Clinical Sciences, College of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences at Texas A&M University invites applications for two full-time, 11-month assistant or associate-level non-tenure clinical track professors in gastrointestinal anatomic pathology. The start date for this position will be determined by chosen candidates' availability in collaboration with the department.

The successful candidate will devote approximately 55% of his or her time to providing clinical service as part of the gastrointestinal histopathology team of the Gastrointestinal Laboratory at Texas A&M University. Duties will include developing and advancing protocols for world-class gastrointestinal histopathology protocols, including standard H&E histopathology, special stains, immunohistochemistry, FISH, and ISCH. Furthermore, the successful candidate will be on service duty for approximately 28 weeks per calendar year. The remaining time will be devoted to scholarly activity, classroom teaching, further development of the clinical service, and academic service as assigned.

The Gastrointestinal Laboratory currently serves approximately 15,000 veterinarians world-wide, either directly or through intermediary diagnostic laboratories. The GI Lab team is currently made up of 3 full-time faculty members (two small animal internists and one microbiologist) and one part-time faculty member (small animal internist), 6 outside professional consultants (5 anatomic pathologists and one small animal internist), an assistant laboratory director, approximately 15 technical staff, several post-docs, approximately 10 graduate students (most are veterinarians and at the PhD level), 5 clerical staff, and several student workers. A wide variety of clinical and research equipment is available, including protein-purifiers, thermocyclers, four automated immunoassay analyzers, an automated chemistry analyzer, GC/MS systems, scintillation counters, and much more.

Applicants must have a DVM degree (or equivalent) and must be board-certified by the American or European College of Veterinary Pathology. Also, applicants should have a track record with a special interest in gastrointestinal pathology (including the liver and the exocrine pancreas). Applicants must be licensed or eligible to be licensed to practice veterinary medicine in Texas.
