MidSouth Electric Co-op is seeking an eager to learn and safety
focused Apprentice Lineman to join our team!
Under close supervision, the Apprentice Lineman will learn and
perform basic aspects of the trade including the construction,
maintenance, and/or service on electrical overhead and underground
distribution systems with energized lines up to 14,400/24,900
volts. This position will prepare for entry into the DOL approved
4-year Lineman Apprenticeship Program for an approximate period of
six (6) months.
Apprentice Lineman Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalency required.
- Must have a valid Class A Commercial Driver's permit or Class A
CDL. If out of state or permit only, must obtain their Texas Class
A CDL within 90 days.
- Must be able to work in extreme weather conditions and be
available for on-call hours.
- Previous outdoor, general labor experience preferred.
- Knowledge of the hazards that exist, including falls, electric
shock, electric flash, falling objects and traffic. You must be
familiar with the use of protection equipment, safety equipment and

blueprints as related to transmission and distribution construction
- Thorough knowledge of layout and characteristics of
distribution and transmission lines in the area assigned.

NOTE: This position is part of a Lineman Apprenticeship Program
under the guidelines of the US Dept. of Labor. In addition to
above, the applicant must be at least 18 years old, and comply with
the Apprenticeship Standards.
