We empower students to utilize self-assessment resources to identify and explore careers, gain relevant experience and pursue their career goals, whether they choose to seek admission to graduate school or professional school, or secure professional employment. The Career Center's services and resources include: Career Exploration, Assessment, and Planning; Career Readiness and Job Search Tools, Resume Writing, Interview Preparation; Professional Networking Resources and Events; Campus recruiting and employer contacts for Full-Time positions, Internships, Externships, and Cooperative Education; Professional and Graduate School Assistance with Applications, Interviews and Program Contacts; In-person and virtual Presentations to Classes, Student Organizations, Workshops, Webinars and Panel Discussions; Coordination of Career Fairs; Individual Advising Appointments, Walk-in Advising, Open Office Hours, and Mock Interviews for graduate and professional school, internships and full time employment. The Academic Affairs Recruiting Office assisted with the creation and posting of this job requisition for the Career Center. What we want The Career Services Coordinator will provide a high level of customer service to current and former Aggie students who are interested in pursuing professional school admission. This position will also continue to strengthen and expand the current level of partnerships with the deans and admissions directors of professional schools in order to provide the most current information and upcoming trends to students. The ideal candidate will work well in a fast-paced team environment, have excellent customer service skills, and be detailed oriented. What you need to know Salary Range: $43,000-$45,000 C over Letter/Resume: A cover letter and resume are strongly recommended. Required Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience Three years of progressively responsible, professional experience in higher education, industry, or government Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Ability to work effectively with diverse constituents of the Career Center; i.e., students, professional school admissions staff, college administrators, faculty and staff Requires excellent oral, written and presentation skills Ability to work independently and manage multiple, on-going programs and services Proficient in researching and utilizing online resources Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others Preferred Education and Experience: Master's degree Five or more years of experience in career development and planning advising with first and second year college students, recruiting, human resource training and development or a student affairs discipline, with a Master's degree Experience with complex databases and computer software programs Experience working with college students, particularly first and second year students, in a corporate or academic environment Preferred Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Working knowledge of career development strategies and techniques Job Responsibilities Advising for Professions - Advises future, current, and former students on the various admissions processes. Advising includes application procedures and timing, entrance exam preparation, school selection, alternate career paths, financing options, and student development activities. Critiques personal statements and resumes for applicants. Program/Project Coordination - Serves as coordinator for major, special events such as Health Professions Symposium, Law Caravan, and Acceptance Reception. Arranges location, food, staffing, and publicity. Ensures large student participation from Texas A & M and surrounding colleges and universities. Serves as a primary advisor to the student organizations directly interested in the professions which advise. Works with students to develop their leadership skills. Supervises the planning and scheduling of meetings. Attends meetings twice per month. Ensures compliance with University Rules and Regulations. Serves as a committee member for various scholarships handled by Professional School Advising. This includes publicity, ranking, and scheduling interviews. Provides indirect supervision to student workers. Customer Service - Creates handouts and advising materials for recruiting and for current students. Revises OPSA information that is included in other departments literature, such as the University Catalog, departmental web pages, New Student Conference information, etc. Compiles and analyzes admissions data to law schools and provides computer support. Continually collects information about Aggie applicants. Prepares information about trends in admissions and testing. Provides information to academic departments as requested. Provides assistance to co-workers in various computer applications. Maintains and revises database setup used for all Aggie post-baccalaureate applicants and database for Freshman Conferences. Professional Development - Actively participates in professional organizations. Maintains position in at least one professional organization. Corresponds professional program staffers to maintain knowledge and trends in applications. Interacts with State and National application services. Attends UAC presentations and symposia. Serves as ambassador of Texas A & M at regional and national conferences. Other - Performs other duties as assigned.
