Job Description:

Overview: Under the guidance of Manager of Plant Operations and facility leadership, the Supervisor-Facilities is responsible for efficient/effective resource utilization, management of assigned staff, achieving quality outcomes, monitoring of quality and quantity of services, and coordinating activities of the Facilities Management Department. Responsibility for the operations, maintenance, and staffing of the facility engineering, environmental safety, and emergency preparedness functions at CHI St. Joseph Health. Responsible for ensuring all regulations are adhered to regarding the Environment of Care as outlined in applicable regulations. Accountable for oversight and development of Facilities/Safety expense and capital budgets and for directing the operational, financial, and human resource functions for the departments of Plant Operations, Maintenance, and Safety. Provides assignments, direction and guidance to staff for CHI St. Luke's Health Memorial assigned locations' safety coordinators and facilities staff. Displays professional, safe conduct in all interactions. Maintains positive working relationships with staff, other departments, physicians and peers. Displays conduct in support of CHI St. Luke's Health Mission & Vision.

Responsibilities Displays professional, engaging conduct and excellent customer service skills.

Interviews and selects staff.

Provides input and recommendations concerning safety related issues.

Leads, coaches, develops and recognizes staff to maximize performance and professional growth.

Completes Introductory & Annual Performance Appraisals and Competencies as required.

Accountable for assessment and evaluation of staffing patterns for the appropriate utilization of staff.

Conducts Environment of Care Rounds and Hazardous Surveillance programs.

Ensures facility adheres to all applicable regulations, including all local, state and federal regulations.

Develops, reviews, and recommends changes to established policies and procedures.

Reviews construction project documents, attends construction meetings as required, and works with contractors to ensure projects are appropriate, equipment and spaces meet all codes, interface is seamless with existing systems, and costs are controlled on construction projects.

Ensures fire-safety inspections are completed in a timely manner, and any outstanding SOC/PFI items are properly documented.

Ensures all PICRAs and ILSMs are completed and documented properly prior to starting any construction projects.

Provides advice and assistance to all levels of management in the development and application of environmental safety programs, policies and procedures.

Monitors the effectiveness of the safety programs at all facilities.

Develops and coordinates input and completion of annual required Hazard Vulnerability Analysis.

Prepares any reports required by the Health System on safety, fire-safety, and emergency preparedness.

Oversees the development and planning of emergency preparedness exercises and drills.

Oversees development and implementation of service line goals/objectives.

Identifies and supports opportunities for strategic development within or outside of service lines.

Ensures service line commitment to life safety, quality and risk management policies, procedures and standards of regulatory agencies.

Accountable for maintaining required certifications and ensuring same of staff.

Consistently operates service lines within fiscal guidelines.

Represents CHI St. Joseph Health in physician, community relations and vendors in a professional/accountable manner.

Ensures that major automated equipment is operational by performing required maintenance, calibration and troubleshooting procedures.

Promotes department-based goals and contributes to the success of the organization; serves as preceptor, mentor and resource to less experienced staff.

Establishes/maintains effective and respectful communication in all collaborative relationships.

Provides on-call 24 hour coverage to respond to incidents or emergencies as required in a professional and accountable fashion.

Performs duties in accordance with that of CHI St. Joseph Health policies and procedures, and regulatory guidelines.

Performs other duties as assigned. Quality - completes work with accuracy and thoroughness.

Qualifications

Education

Required:

Bachelor's Degree - Engineering or a related field

or

High School Diploma / GED equivalent and

5+ years of progressive plant operations, facility, maintenance experience may be substituted for higher education level.

Experience

Required:

Five (5) years prior plant operations, facility, maintenance experience

Knowledgeable in hydronic heating/cooling and experienced with boilers.

Ability to access and utilize operating system TMS to manage work orders.

Ability to access and utilize BMS.
