Job Description:
Responsible for machining new tools and reworking and
maintaining existing tools (molds, dies, fixtures, etc.) for the
production of molded rubber products. Key Responsibilities Keep up
with assigned safety training and report any unsafe conditions.
Perform machining of new and existing molds, dies, and fixtures,
including occasional welding and torch use. Study blueprints,
sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to
determine dimensions and tolerances of finished workpieces,
sequence of operations, and setup requirements. Calculate and set
controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant
flow, and depth and angle of cut, or enter commands to retrieve,
input, or edit computerized machine control media. Program CNC
Mills and lathes using Edgecam or other CNC programming software
from scratch and without assistance. Operate CNC Mills and lathes,
as well as manual mills, lathes, and surface grinders. Produce
quality work and inspect work before passing to production. Develop
specifications from general descriptions and assist in providing
sketches/drawings when necessary to communicate changes with design
personnel. Safely transport molds and raw materials to and from the
manufacturing plant and storage locations. Adhere to all State,
Federal and Company work rules, maintaining a high standard of
health, safety, and environmental standards. Train other employees
and share personal knowledge of parts, procedures, machines, etc.
Maintain tools, tool inventory, and machine shop machines to ensure
a clean and safe work environment. Qualifications and Education
Requirements Minimum of 5 years of experience machining tools,
molds, dies, and fixtures for the rubber manufacturing process or
equivalent experience. High School Diploma or GED required.
Proficient in using hand measuring tools (e.g., micrometers,
calipers, indicators, depth gauges). Proficient with programming
and operating CNC mills and lathes. Maintain Forklift and Crane
certifications. Must be able to pass a Machinist test with 85%
accuracy (if administered). Ability to take and follow written and
oral instructions. Preferred Qualifications CNC/machine-specific
certifications, but not mandatory. Physical Demands Must be able to
traverse ladders, stairs, gangways, and scaffolding at varying
heights. Must have excellent balance to traverse and negotiate
uneven surfaces at varying heights. Must be able to operate motor
vehicles with a valid driver’s license. Must be able to handle and
operate hand tools weighing up to 25 pounds and a pinch or trigger
grip of 15 pounds. Depth perception, color vision/perception, and
hearing of sounds and speech within normal frequency/range are
required. Must be able to lift 50 pounds from floor to waist and up
to 25 pounds from floor to 60”. Must be able to perform
single-handed carry up to 35 pounds and two-handed carry up to 50
pounds. Must be able to generate 50 pounds of force to perform a
dynamic push or pull. Complexity of Tasks Ability to follow
directions working from verbal instructions, working independently
with minimal supervision. Ability to comply with the facility’s
production, quality, and safety standards. Must possess a high
degree of initiative, with the ability to be promptly and regularly
at work. Ability to work fluctuating work schedules and extensive
work hours required by workloads. Capable of performing a variety
of manual assignments/tasks as defined by the critical demands of
the job. Additional Information Ability to safely program CNC Mills
and lathes using Edgecam or other CNC programming software from
scratch and without assistance is the top priority. Hiring Timeline
Start Date: ASAP. Interview Process: On-site, face-to-face
interviews. May include a shop tour. Potential for extension or
conversion to FTE, depending on business needs. Work Environment
Location: Katy, TX 77494. Unionized Facility: Yes. Shop
Environment: Non-driver role. Dress Code: Coveralls provided
initially. Steel-toe shoes required. Short sleeves. Pants; no
shorts. Team Structure 3 current members (1 technician, 2
