(TXI), we aim to provide access to emerging technology and research
to design for artists, scientists, and humanists who use
storytelling to share solutions to big problems that are
responsive, responsible, and remarkable. Our goal is to be a
leading voice in the future of communication and media through
applied creative and research projects using a mixture of live
communication methods and emerging technologies. We seek a
part-time employee who is self-motivated but collaborative and
willing to be creative in the management of their work
environment.PurposeUnder direct to general supervision, provides
organization's staff and students with laboratory technical
assistance, support, and advice. Implements, maintains, and
enhances computer-based systems to ensure efficiency and accuracy
and meet business needs. Provide store-keeping and technical skills
in the custody, care, distribution, and maintenance of supplies and
equipment in departmental laboratory. Responsible for the knowledge
of equipment and laboratory techniques in a storeroom operation,
and for giving informal instructions and demonstrations of such
techniques, as well as of equipment and materials. Work closely
with Directors and overall team to receive feedback to iterate and
improve the technical portion of current and future
projects.Responsibilities
- Provide technical support for both in-progress and future
projects
- Help with the technical piece of workshops or events, as
needed
- Solicits and interprets external requests, such as client
proposals, and works with director to assess time scope, team, and
budget to assess if appropriate to TXI's goals and missions
- Sets up and/or operates all equipment for use in education or
client work.
- Prepares laboratory materials for check out to students,
according to faculty member's specifications.
- Works with the administrative team to order equipment and keep
inventory and software subscriptions up to date.
- Sets up equipment for lectures, demonstrations, TXI-related
events, or guest speakers.
- Quality Assurance and Testing of games and other demos
- Other duties as assignedRequired QualificationsAt least 7 years
of related experience in providing technical support to project
teams.Relevant education and experience may be substituted as
appropriate.Preferred Qualifications
- Proficient in Touch Designer.
- Proficient in Unity game engine, Unreal, Arduino, Github, and
Gitlab
- Efficient with VR and AR technology including Oculus Quest 2,
Quest 3, Magic Leap, etc.
- Efficient in media production, game design and development
- Efficient in 3D Modeling software such as Blender or Maya
- Efficient in 8th Wall WebAR, Javascript, AFrame / three.js /
WebFL, and HTML/CSS
- Superior time management and organizational skills and ability
to meet deadlines.
- Maintain tasks and projects via Airtable, comfortable
communicating regularly via Discord
- Be open to learning other XR tech
- Stay up to date with the latest XR technology and software to
identify opportunities for TXI.Salary Range$35/hourWorking
