Job Description The Mobile Correctional Officer Team will be
assigned to the Texas Dept of Criminal Justice Region I
Headquarters in Huntsville, TX but will travel to units across the
State of Texas to assist with staffing needs. Team members will
work at a unit Monday - Thursday, with travel days Friday and
Sunday, if needed. Day Shift - 8:00 AM - 6:30 PM Night Shift - 8:00
PM - 6:30 AM After successfully completing 12 months with the
mobile team, correctional officers will have the opportunity to be
placed at their unit of choice. Apply online at:

position is not based out of a unit; travel is required. A veteran
who has completed at least two years active military service and
been discharged under honorable conditions, or an applicant who has
earned an associate's degree or bachelor's degree from an
accredited college will start as a Correctional Officer IV, pay
level 4 $3,284.27 per month. Regular promotions within the career
path continue, progressive to $3,720.17 at 61 months TDCJ service.
A CO applicant with prior government correctional custody or law
enforcement experience within the 36-month period preceding date of
hire shall be hired at a pay level corresponding with the months of
service if dates of employment are verified by former employer and
the applicant left employer in good standing. Title - Monthly
Security Salary and Months of Service CO I - $3,019.84 (minimum)
$3,110.44 (maximum) with 0 to 2 (months of service) CO II -
$3,107.98 (minimum) $3,201.22 (maximum) with 3 to 6 (months of
service) CO III - $3,191.86 (minimum) $3,287.62 (maximum) with 7 to
12 (months of service) CO IV - $3,284.27 (minimum) $3,382.80
(maximum) with 13 to 24 (months of service) CO IV - $3,382.52
(minimum) $3,484.00 (maximum) with 25 to 36 (months of service) CO
IV - $3,480.77 (minimum) $3,585.19 (maximum) with 37 to 72 (months
of service) CO V - $3,720.17 (minimum) $3,831.78 (maximum) with 73
(months of service) Salary rates may differ for return-to-work
retirees who are not ERS contributors. You must be a citizen of the
U.S., or an alien authorized to work in the U.S. You must be at
least 18 years old. You must possess a High School Diploma from an
accredited senior high school or equivalent, or a state or
military-issued General Education Development (GED) certificate.
You must not be on active duty in the military, unless on terminal
leave. (Applicants may apply if they are within 6 months of
eligibility.) You must not have been discharged from the Armed
Forces under dishonorable conditions. You must never have been
convicted of a felony. You must never have been convicted of an
offense involving domestic violence. You cannot have had a Class B
misdemeanor conviction within the past 3 years. You cannot have had
a Class A misdemeanor conviction within the past 10 years. You
cannot be on probation for any criminal offense. You cannot have
any criminal charges pending or have an outstanding warrant.
Current employees interested in becoming a part of the Mobile
Correctional Officer Team should submit a correctional officer
transfer request through their HR Representative in accordance with
PD-79, Employee Transfers, Reassignments, and Temporary
Assignments. Outside applicants will be required to submit to
pre-employment drug testing as a condition of employment.
