We are looking for a developer that will primarily focus on supporting WordPress and related plugins and will secondarily code department applications as necessary. Departments will provide the procedures to be followed at each step of the recruiting process.Required Education and Experience:Bachelor's degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experienceThree years of software applications developer experienceRequired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applicationsKnowledge of: advanced analysis, troubleshooting, problem-solving, client relations skills, requirement assessment and analysis, project management methodology, and proficiency of the Information Technology Interface Library (ITIL)Ability to build strong working relationships and a positive work environment Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with othersPreferred Experience:Experience with Wordpress, React, Composer, Roots Bedrock and Sage, Bootstrap, Ruby on Rails, node.js/JavascriptResponsibilities:Application Development and SupportConsults with users to review project plans and schedules and discusses problems or concernsDesigns complex programs, program modifications, or applicationsDevelops specifications based on input from the customer and creates complex design documentsReviews and writes complex programs, program modifications, or applicationsReviews and analyzes software documentation and production results to facilitate problem resolutionTests complex programs, program modifications, or applicationsPrograms rear-facing structures and foundations for all College websites and custom appsPerforms testing, quality assurance checks, de-bugging and troubleshooting for apps and webUnderstanding/troubleshooting cross-browser compatibility issuesWeb Programming and SupportOffers support to Web Team with respect to design, content assistance and communication with usersMaintains ADA accessibility requirements and best practicesPerforms mobile and responsive site designPerforms WordPress customization, theme design and pluginsPlans, coordinates, communicates large scale projects e.g. web template transitionsUses college helpdesk system (Freshdesk) to log work and interface with usersEducation and DocumentationGenerates documentation related to programming decisions and methods for backup professionalsCreates helpful articles and how-to documentation for users to better understand the inner workings of forward-facing applications, websites and servicesAttend appropriate training and meeting including the IT Coordination and Zones meetingParticipates in training and professional development sessions when necessary including attending College IT meetings and appropriate University forums (e.g., IT Forum)Performs other duties as assignedInstructions to Applicants: Applications received by Texas A&M University and TAMHSC, must either have all job application data entered or a resume attached.
