What we want The Broadcast Engineer, under direction, performs installation, modification, operation, and repair of electronic communications equipment to in-stadium video as well as live event operations. Provides technical oversight of event coverage. Works with full time staff and college student labor force to facilitate live television for both broadcast and in-stadium presentations. Required_Education_And_Experience * Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience * Three years of experience in the technical operation and basic maintenance and repair of broadcast equipment, to include live event experience in technical broadcast control room and/or multiple camera operations * Required_Knowledge,_Skills,_And_Abilities * Ability to troubleshoot to the component level and provide operator assistance in all aspects of broadcast * Ability to work in integrated Television Control Room environment managing control room setup and operational status for Live Television events * Understanding of Fiber-based transport of audio/video signals for broadcast support and communications * Knowledge of overall technical support to live events broadcast staff regarding operational aspects of routing systems for communications, broadcast cameras, data-linking television graphics support, and general control room technical operator support * Ability to teach skill-set needed for student labor force to help facilitate event * Other_Requirements_Or_Other_Factors * Position will require some sports event coverage and television production, as assigned * Requires occasional nights, weekends, and holidays as needed * Must be physically able to climb ship's ladders and/or scaffolds in regards to maintenance of digital signage at stadium venues * Preferred_Education * Bachelors of Science in Electrical Engineering Technology (BSEET) or College degree in Electronic Engineering or Electrical Engineering * Preferred_Knowledge,_Skills,_And_Abilities * Knowledge of non-linear editing (NLE) systems, (AVID software specifically) * Stadium/Venue Big Screen Video board * Operational understanding of Television routers, fiber links, Live Television Camera setup and operational use, broadcast communication wired and wireless setups * Audio engineering and Up link /Teleport operations experience a plus * Operational understanding of broadcast TV Cameras and encoding equipment to capture for NLE usage * Operational understanding of maintaining Archives of broadcast media * Knowledge of IP based broadcast systems * Use of operational programs * Responsibilities * 12th Man Productions - Daily point of contact for maintaining operational status of technical aspects of 12th Man Productions facility as directed by Broadcast Chief Engineer and Director Of Broadcast Technologies who serve in supervisory role. These duties include, but are not limited, to the technical operational support of broadcast control rooms, studios and Athletics Venues as related to live event television productions as well as post production editing and archiving operations. This support includes utilization of specialized skills in operation, modification, troubleshooting and repair of electronic communications equipment. * SEC Network - Operational support of ESPN/SEC Network Events - Serve as Full-time Engineer for ESPN Event Broadcasts supported by 12th Man Productions. This role works with Broadcast Chief Engineer, Broadcast Producer and Director to provide technical operational support for these live broadcast events. These duties include training and management of student engineering crew who serve in support roles during broadcasts. * Digital Signage Operational Support - Operational support of in-stadium/ venue digital signage and associated electronic components and provide support for live event technical setup and management per operations systems. This includes basic operational troubleshooting and repair following set protocols. This includes troubleshooting and repair of Daktronics video boards in Athletics Venues following campus uniform IP structure and software maintenance through Daktronics Support. Duties include serving as on-site liaison for Athletics to acquire and distribute ESPN Broadcast feed for video-board and in venue needs. * Internet Protocol Technologies (IP) - Daily point of contact for maintaining and supporting the IP based video and audio workflow as relates to the IP based audio systems, utilizing trained skills as the Point of Contact, to maintain the current support structure of Audio architect and Dante technologies. * Continuing Education - Working with Broadcast Chief Engineer and Director of Broadcast Technologies on development of strategies and implementation protocols as it relates to maintenance and replacement for long-term technical support of athletics broadcast operations. * Education - Keep apprised of new technologies and implementation recommendations as well as continuing education on technologies and Federal Communications Commission (FCC) requirements per broadcast operations. * Compliance - Maintains continual and thorough familiarity with all applicable NCAA, Conference and University rules and regulations. Establishes and ensures communication and enforcement of rules and regulations for all staff members and student workers supervised.
