    JOB SUMMARYThe Bariatric Coordinator RN will work closely with the Bariatric Program Medical Director and other clinicians with the care of bariatric patients. The coordinator will be responsible in preparing for, acquiring, and maintaining accreditation for SWMC while working in collaboration with individual site bariatric program coordinators at different BSWHealth facilities. The Bariatric Coordinator RN leads, directs, and negotiates through collaboration with physicians and staff to promote care delivery that ensures efficiency, cost effectiveness, and expected clinical outcomes at SWMC. The coordinator also provides specialized nursing knowledge and expertise functioning as a clinician, educator, researcher and consult to medical/nursing staff, patients and families. The coordinator will act as a resource person to all patient care areas regarding bariatric care in addition to the various regional advisory councils and statewide bariatric collaborative.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLEOVERSEES BARIATRIC PROGRAM DEVELOPMENTIn conjunction with the Bariatric Medical Director is responsible for the development of the Bariatric ProgramSets priorities for primary bariatric center development, initiates and manages operations associated with facilitating performance improvement teams and serves as a system liaison for bariatric program related issuesLeads multidisciplinary team efforts to identify clinical problems and needsDesigns processes to implement and manage patient transitions through the system pre- and post- dischargeFacilitates meetings between members of the bariatric team to ensure bariatric program development and successPerforms duties in an independent, effective manner and efficiently manages time and responsibilitiesEvaluates and ensures compliance with all MBSAQIP & Joint Commission requirements for bariatric center accreditation PARTICIPATES IN THE CLINICAL COMPONENTS OF THE BARIATRIC PROGRAMMakes rounds on bariatric patients and works with case management/physicians/staff to coordinate bariatric carePerforms daily and concurrent review of patients treated with bariatric protocols for adherence, performance and outcomesAssists with data collection and analysis of dataActively champions bariatric care initiatives throughout the organizationRepresents bariatric area of specialization on departmental and hospital committees and task forcesAssures delivery of "Best Practice Standards" for Bariatric Care PARTICIPATES IN BARIATRIC PROGRAM EDUCATION, OUTREACH, AND RESEARCH ACTIVITIESWill maintain active membership on a regional advisory councilsRemains up-to-date on nationally accepted bariatric care guidelines through the Joint Commission, MBSAQIP and Get With the Guidelines through participation in research and educationCollaborates with other healthcare facilities & EMS agencies with bariatric care education and accreditation guidelinesActs as a resource person to all patient care areas regarding nursing care as related to the bariatric patientEnsures bariatric care personnel and bariatric Team/Committee members obtain and maintain required competenciesBENEFITSOur competitive benefits package includes the following- Immediate eligibility for health and welfare benefits- 401(k) savings plan with dollar-for-dollar match up to 5%- Tuition Reimbursement- PTO accrual beginning Day 1 Note: Benefits may vary based upon position type and/or levelQUALIFICATIONS- EDUCATION - Associate's- EXPERIENCE - A minimum of 2 years experience required- CERTIFICATION/LICENSE/REGISTRATION - - - - - - - -Basic Life Support (BLS) - - - - - - -Registered Nurse (RN)Recruiter: Lindsay TrippBaylor Scott and White Job ID #22022483.
