RN - Surgical Services (Circulating) Full Time - Bellville, TX
--RN (Circulating) - Surgical ServicesCurrent schedule is Monday - Friday with frequent early and late days requiredSummarySurgical nurses prepare patients for surgery, circulate during cases and safely discharge patients by completing a number of steps:

  • Educating the patient on any pre-operative instructions leading up the surgery.
  • Ensuring--that--all--pre-operative--tests--and--bloodwork--are--completed.
  • Settling--patient into--the--room--and--prepping--the--patient for--surgery.
  • Circulate providing surgical assistance as part of a comprehensive surgical team.
  • Documenting and fulfilling orders to assure surgical care in handled with efficiency and excellent patient care.
  • Post--anesthesia,--the--nurse--is--responsible--for--observing--and--treating--a--patient--post-operative.
  • Ensuring--the--patient--is--safely--awake--from anesthesia--and--assess--patients' is--awareness.
  • Educates--the--patient--on--post-operative--orders
  • Safety discharge patient home.--Knowledge, Skills and Abilities--
    • Be able to perform circulator duties as listed:Use nursing process to develop individualize plans of care and to coordinate and deliver care to patients undergoing operative or invasive procedures.Perform ethical, accountable, and responsible patient care.Knowledge to address physiologic, psychologic, and socio-cultural needs of the patient.Assure surgical patient is registered, verify procedure scheduled, verify surgical consent is signed and dated accordingly.Review patient, lab, x-ray, EKG, History and Physical and any special accommodations patient may need.Educate patient on surgical procedure and post-op conditions.Assess patient prior to surgery and alleviate their concerns.Gather all supplies and equipment needed for the operation. Notify SPBS of equipment check for outside equipment that is brought in to perform surgery.--Knowledge of how to troubleshoot equipment failure during surgery.Complete Time-Out prior to procedure.Assist with positioning the patient.Prep surgical area with appropriate solution as ordered by surgeon.Oversee vital signs in the Operating Room.Knowledge of necessary medication administration.Able to identify and treat needs regarding appropriate dressing, surgical drains, catheters , implanted devices and external fixation hardware.Assist anesthesia as directed with intubation and airway maintenance

    • Be--able--to--perform--General--Physical--Activities--- Performing--physical--activities--that--require--considerable--use--of--your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and--handling of--materials--and--lift--up--to--50--pounds
    • Developing--constructive--and--cooperative--working--relationships--with--others--and--maintaining--them--over--time.
    • Perform other duties as assigned to meet the organization`s needs--Experience and Skills and Education
      • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing
      • Licensed to practice as an Registered Nurse in the state of Texas (Required)
      • 1-2 years Experience Circulating in a multi-discipline operating room (highly preferred)
      • 1-2 years Experience providing Pre/Post Operative care (preferred)
      • Current--CPR,--PALS--and--ACLS--certification--issued--by the--American--Heart--Association (preferred)--Conditions--of--Employment
        • Must provide OSHA acceptable COVID Vaccination records or complete exemption by required federal mandate dates.
        • Must provide vaccination records for verification of Hep B, TB, MMR, Varicella and Tdap. If unable to provide vaccination records, may be required to receive immunizations.
        • Successful--candidate--must--submit to--post-offer,--pre-employment--medical--history--check.
        • Must--submit to--N95--fit--testing--and--annual--TB--screening--/--testing and--Influenza--vaccination.
        • Must--submit--to--new--employee--wellness--examination
        • Must--have good--attendance
        • Must--be able--to--pass--background--check
        • Must--be able--to--pass--drug screen
        • Must--be able--to--provide authorization--to--work--for--any--US--employer
        • Must--be--able--to--speak--and--understand English
