Park Street, Brenham, 77833JOB SUMMARYThe Physician Assistant of
Primary Care is a licensed, certified, non-physician healthcare
provider who actively renders direct patient care and possesses
delegated prescriptive authority. The Physician Assistant is
credentialed, privileged, and billed as an independent billing
provider recognized by Medicare and Medicaid within the healthcare
systems, and in accordance with the appropriate board. The Advanced
Practice Provider provides medical care based upon the scope of
practice as delineated by the supervising physician. These
providers typically provide care to patients in an internal
medicine, family medicine, geriatric or pediatric clinic.ESSENTIAL
FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLEThe Physician Assistant of Primary Care
assesses the physical and mental condition of patients by
performing comprehensive physical examinations and other diagnostic
tests to assess patient problems and health care needs. The
Physician Assistant counsels patients and families regarding
medical processes, management of the illness, condition,
medication, nutrition, health promotion, drug regimens and possible
side effects or interactions with other substances such as food
supplements, over the counter medications and herbal remedies. In
addition, the Physician Assistant performs invasive procedures
specific to the scope of practice as delegated by the supervising
Physician.KEY SUCCESS FACTORSThe ideal candidate must have
knowledge of techniques needed to diagnose and treat human
injuries, diseases, and deformities to include symptoms, treatment
alternatives, drug properties, interactions, and preventive
health-care measures and rehabilitation of physical and mental
dysfunctions. The ideal candidate must have strong verbal, written,
communication, interpersonal, critical thinking, problem solving,
computer and related software application skills and have the
ability to counsel patients, interpret laboratory diagnostic tests
and develop and implement comprehensive outcome-based patient
treatment plans. The ideal candidate must be a Graduate of an
accredited Physician Assistant program.OTHER
