Job Description:

Scion Staffing has been engaged to conduct an immediate search for an experienced Managing Director for our client, a leading nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting French language and culture in Central Texas through high-quality language education and dynamic cultural programming that connects and enriches the Austin community. The organization is seeking an innovative and accomplished leader who can effectively oversee a diverse range of French language classes tailored to the community's interests.

Reporting directly to the Board of Directors, the Managing Director serves as the principal executive of the organization, providing strategic leadership and overseeing the effective management of the language school, diverse cultural initiatives, and the organization's long-term vision. Key responsibilities include driving fundraising efforts, leading marketing strategies, and strengthening community engagement.

The ideal candidate will support and expand engagement opportunities related to Francophone cultures for students, members, and the wider community, while building and nurturing collaborative relationships with other French and Francophone cultural organizations and programs that align with the organization's vision, mission, and values. This full-time, exempt salaried position is based in Austin, Texas, with a remote work option.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Board Relations

  • Lead the organization in a way that aligns with and advances the organization's mission as set by the Board of Directors.
  • Communicate effectively with the Board providing timely and accurate information to support informed decision-making and the Board's proper functioning.Financial Performance and Viability
    • Maintain the fiscal integrity of the organization , by submitting a proposed annual budget and monthly financial statements to the Board that accurately reflect the organization's financial status.
    • Manage the preparation of tax returns and respond to any audit or compliance issues.
    • Ensure fiscal management that adheres to the approved budget, optimizes resource utilization, and keeps the organization in a strong financial position.
    • Fundraise and develop resources to support the organization's mission.Organizational Mission and Strategy
      • Implement a range of programs that successfully carries out the organization's mission.
      • Develop and oversee the strategic plan to ensure that the Alliance Fran--aise can successfully fulfill its mission into the future.
      • Enhance the organization's reputation by engaging with local communities and collaborating with professional, civic, and private organizations.Operations
        • Effectively manage the daily and long-term operations of the organization .
        • Hire, evaluate, and retain a competent, qualified administrative staff, and as many as 15 teachers, as required.
        • Manage the organizational structure by evaluating current operations, designing improvements, implementing changes, and ensuring clear communication with employees during transitions, as needed.
          QUALIFICATIONS:
          • Bachelor's degree or equivalent required; graduate degree preferred.
          • 5+ years of senior nonprofit management experience preferred, with a history of transparent and ethical leadership.
          • Cultural competency and fluency or near-fluency in both spoken and written French, with preferred experience in France or other Francophone countries.
          • Skills in engaging and motivating board members and other volunteers.
          • A pedagogical background and/or experience and understanding in the principles and practices of teaching, particularly in how to effectively design and deliver educational content to students, is preferred.
          • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking, with the ability to effectively communicate the organization's strategic vision to key stakeholders.
          • Excellent organizational skills, including planning, delegation, program development, and task management.
          • Experience in budget management, including preparation, analysis, decision-making, administration of multiple funding sources, and financial reporting.
          • Proven success in securing private foundation grants and leading special event fundraising efforts.
          • Must understand how to conduct: donor relationship maintenance; grant writing; community outreach, engagement campaigns, and visibility; cultural competency and knowledge of the local community; knowledge of fundraising strategies and donor relations in the nonprofit sector; and demonstrated ability to oversee and collaborate with staff.
            COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
            In addition to a competitive salary, commensurate with experience, in the range of $80,000-$90,000, this opportunity also includes a $6,000 annual contribution to either a Health Savings Account (HSA) or an Individual Coverage Health Reimbursement Arrangement (ICHRA), per the candidate's preferences and eligibility. Additionally, the organization offers $3,500 annually for professional development to support continued learning and growth. The role is remote, provides very flexible work hours, and paid time off (PTO) is negotiable to support work-life balance. There is also potential for performance-based bonus, rewarding excellence and impact in the role. All candidates must pass drug screening, criminal background check and any other required testing.
