What we want
The Data Manager and Analyst provides overall direction and
management for the gathering, compiling, analyzing, interpreting,
and reporting of data. The individual hired in this postilion
collects, analyzes, reviews, documents, and defines databases,
reports, and processes based on the SEHD needs and requirements.
They also provide different reports and build financial models to
assist with the annual budget process and money allocation to
different departments as they help lead the SEHD Dean and
foundation staff think about innovative ways to provide data
specific to donor requirements. Overall, this is a rewarding
opportunity which designs data modeling/analysis services to mine
systems and applications, builds, deploys, and maintains data
support tools, metadata inventories, and definitions for database

Salary: Compensation will be commensurate to selected hire's
experience.

Qualifications:
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and
experience.
Five years' management or administrative experience, including
experience in program assessment and data analysis.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree in Statistics or related field.
More than five years' management or administrative experience,
including experience in program assessment and data analysis.
Knowledge of University Data Warehouse to pull data from different
databases.
Essential Duties/Tasks
Analysis and Specification Development:
Manages and develops reports many ad-hoc reports along with complex
statistical analysis that provide meaningful results specific to
academic affairs team pertaining to details specific to student
info.
Analyzes both quantitative and qualitative data using software such
as SAS, RStudio, SPSS, STATA, Excel, NVIVO.
Creates reports, graphs, advanced data, and statistical analysis on
different platforms of university warehouses (Cognos, Argos, DARS,
TEA, and Business Objects etc.).
Assists with organization of different teams inside different units
about the best strategic decisions and quantitative data to make
better decisions. That includes helping the SEHD to be strategic in
allocating resources in terms of academic and course resource
planning along with better predicting enrollment, graduation, and
retention related info for all students.
Develops dashboards for specific colleges and recurring reports
that are completed each semester or monthly to enhance
understanding of college academic productivity indicators and help
in predictive analysis.
Works collaboratively with faculty, staff, and administrators,
under the supervision of the Assistant Director of Assessment and
Evaluation, to develop educational outcomes, assessment plans, and
strategic plans, as well as APR reports, that help to improve
program and course structure in the SEHD and fulfilling all the
requirements of accreditation.
Assesses needs through direct interaction, mapping current and
future business processes, and looking for opportunities to develop
and improve business operations through the effective use of
Business Objects and other databases and data warehouses.
Designs data reporting and processes to meet needs of the SEHD.
Develops reports specific to demographics and accountability
requirements for SEHD for the university.
Provides data to faculty specific to what they need for research,
grants, and publications.
Generates and maintains reports specific to teacher productivity,
teacher retention, certification etc. that are core to teaching
mission of college of education.
Documentation:
Documents databases, reports, processes, and prepares operating
procedures for new or existing data requests. Documents business
requirements and creates detailed functional and technical
reports.
Documents and maintains reports for Finance and HR specific, under
the supervision of the Director of Assessment and Evaluation, to
faculty and staff salary equities, years of service, and planning
of budget each fiscal year.
Creates, develops, and maintains periodic reports and data analysis
specific to details of student, and faculty data that are completed
on a recurrent basis.
Applications:
Completes the surveys (ex.US News) for SEHD
Assists with SEHD Reports and Processes development,
implementation, and maintenance.
Provides technical guidance and/or training databases users
ensuring the successful use of the application.
Maintains and updates the SEHD Directory monthly.
Makes recommendations based on the evaluation of existing reports
and processes for their applicability to current business
operations.
Aids in the advancement of the SEHD mission by identifying areas
that could benefit from the development of new reports and
processes.
