Job Description:
The Director of Operations, working with and reporting to the
Chief Innovation Officer, is responsible for the operations
functions of Texas A&M Innovation, including leading and
managing a team of professionals who provide operational support.

Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership:- Works with Chief Innovation Officer to
identify and pursue new strategic and -operational opportunities.-
Serves as part of the Texas A&M Innovation leadership team.-
Provides strategic direction and advises on decision making.- Sets
goals within the operations function that support departmental
goals and accomplishment metrics.- Implements strategic plans,
prioritizes work, and monitors initiatives.- Serves as
-departmental representative on various decision-making TAMUS and
TAMU groups/committees on behalf of the -Chief Innovation Officer
as needed.- Interfaces with internal and external partners and
stakeholders as needed to maximize effectiveness, efficiency of
business opportunities. -Daily Operations:- Provides daily
operational leadership.- Oversees administrative support activities
of an -office environment including reception, travel, meeting
coordination, supplies and equipment procurement, IT, -facility,
and parking needs and activities.- Oversees marketing,
communications, and event planning and execution -for the
department including press releases, website, social media,
newsletters, educational programming, -outreach and events,
development of promotional collateral and mass digital
communications.- Oversees human resources activities including
recruiting, hiring and onboarding processes for all new employees,
and workforce development initiatives and programs.- Administers
the operational budget and oversees fiscal operations including
intellectual property budget activities, invoicing and collections
for patent expense and agreement considerations, -and revenue
distributions.- Oversees entry, management, integrity, and tracking
of data housed within Texas A&M's IP management database
including data related to invention disclosures, intellectual
property filings and patent -office actions, licensing and other
agreements related to intellectual property rights, federal funding
and compliance -via iEdision.- Oversees financial and non-financial
agreement compliance program, and communications with -outside
legal counsel on intellectual property matters.- Oversees
departmental reporting obligations per System -Policy and
Regulations, in addition to other regular or ad-hoc reporting needs
including investment holdings -reports, equity ownership and
business participation reports, commercialization activity reports
to campus stakeholders and advisory committees, agreement-specific
reports, and departmental impact reports.- Assesses departmental
needs with regards to administrative space, equipment, computing
resources, and personnel.Operational Evaluation:- Ensures the
smooth and efficient operation of the department to help optimize
the effectiveness of resources through the development,
implementation and monitoring of procedures and policies.- Analyzes
program data for reporting, tracking progress and improvement of
programs and initiatives. -
Special Projects:- May support advisory committees, the
Translational Investment Fund or other technology development
programs, student experiential programs, and service level
satisfaction surveying. -
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in applicable field or equivalent combination
of education and experience.
- 10 years of related experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:- -Knowledge of word processing and
spreadsheet applications.
- -Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- -Strong public speaking, organizational, leadership, and
supervisory skills.- Maintains attention to detail and utilizes
sound judgment.- Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with
