Description WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR Do you enjoy hands-on
technical work and keeping transit communication systems running
smoothly for the public? The Technician, Mobile Technologies
reports directly to the Superintendent, VM, QA, & Data. This
position is primarily responsible for the complex maintenance and
repair of Capital Metropolitan Transportation Authority’s Dynamic
Message Signs (DMS) and will include future mobile technologies as
they arrive. Responsibilities WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING Note: The duties
and primary responsibilities below are intended to describe the
general content of and requirements of this job and are not
intended to be an exhaustive statement of duties. Daily inspection,
preventive maintenance, diagnosis, and repair of message signs in
the field. Repair, replacement, and/or modify electrical and
electronic components and defective parts for various equipment and
systems. Prepare and submit various activity and status reports
according to Capital Metro Transportation Authority (CapMetro)
policy. Create and maintain preventative maintenance programs.
Ensure schedule and maintenance intervals are met. Maintain parts
and computer inventory records. Prepare written reports, document
defects and repairs on inspection forms, and complete work orders
via computer. Support Capital Metropolitan Transportation
Authority’s Safety Management Systems (SMS) process by ensuring
staff follows safety and security policies, considers safety in
every action, and ensures safety and security concerns are
reported. Perform other position related duties as required and/or
assigned. Qualifications WHAT YOU BRING Associate degree in
Electrical/Electronic Technology from a two (2) year technical
college or institute. Related experience and education may
substitute for educational requirements on a year for year basis up
to two (2) years. Minimum five (5) years of experience in
communications and electronics to include: materials management and
preventative maintenance and repair. Minimum one (1) year of
experience in electronic diagnosis and repair at the board and
component level. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Able to read
schematics and blueprints for electrical and electronic controls.
Knowledge of file systems, database management, current hardware
systems, architecture, and client/server techniques. Experience
with communication system hardware and software such as: LAN,
Wi-Fi, Land Mobile Radio, cellular data, AVL, diagnostic test
equipment. Knowledge of cellular radio operation theory and IP
networks. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and asset tracking
programs such as Asset Management System, Maximus/Asset Works,
Maximo, or MCM. Maintain confidentiality and integrity of
established security procedures. Research and troubleshoot issues
at a detailed level. Communicate effectively, orally and in
writing. Able to manage time and workload effectively with minimal
supervision, and with emphasis on planning, organizing and
prioritizing work objectives; timely completion of assignments and
projects; willingness to undertake special assignments; and,
managing time to address tasks during normal working hours. Able to
be on call 7 days a week, 24 hours a day. Must maintain a current
valid Texas driver's license and acceptable motor vehicle record
per CapMetro’s current standards. WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL
DEMANDS Work is generally performed outside (90%) which will
increase exposure to unpleasant and/or hazardous working and
weather conditions. Incumbent must have the ability to stand for
extended periods of time throughout an eight-hour period, reach
vertically for overhead use as well as horizontally. Must be able
to use a telephone or headset equipment. Incumbent must be able to
lift and move material weighing up to 70 lbs., work at heights up
to 75 feet, and function in an environment with constant
interruptions. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable

previously described. Mobility Status: As an Onsite position, the
incumbent’s primary workplace is a CapMetro facility or field
location. Expected to work in the office 4 days a week. Mobility
status is subject to change at any time based on business needs or
organizational decisions. This role is based in Austin, Texas and
requires relocation to the Austin, Texas area prior to start
date.
