Job Description Job Description Hunton Trane, a division of the Hunton Group, is seeking an experienced Industrial Engineering Manager / Team Leader to provide strategic and hands-on leadership for large-scale EPC projects, including complex data center construction initiatives. This role serves as a key interface between Hunton Trane (EPC contractor), clients/owners, and internal stakeholders, ensuring alignment across engineering, procurement, construction, and schedule objectives to support seamless project delivery. The Engineering Manager is responsible for leading multi-discipline engineering teams, developing and executing engineering strategies, and maintaining strong coordination across technical, contractual, and execution interfaces. This position plays a critical role in driving technical excellence, risk mitigation, and constructible, high-quality designs while supporting on-time and on-budget project execution. Key Responsibilities: Engineering Leadership & Team Management Lead and manage multi-discipline engineering teams, including mechanical, electrical, instrumentation & controls, and structural engineering. Define clear roles, responsibilities, and accountability across engineering disciplines. Provide mentorship, coaching, and professional development to engineering staff. Support recruitment, staffing plans, and resource forecasting aligned with project demands. Foster a collaborative, safety-driven, and high-performance engineering culture. Project Execution & Delivery Develop and implement Engineering Execution Plans (EEPs) aligned with overall EPC project strategies. Ensure engineering deliverables meet project scope, schedule, quality, and constructability requirements. Monitor engineering progress, productivity, and milestone achievement. Lead interdisciplinary design reviews, constructability reviews, and value engineering initiatives. Identify, assess, and mitigate technical and execution risks throughout the project lifecycle. Oversee engineering change management and interface resolution across disciplines. Technical Oversight & Quality Assurance Provide technical leadership and ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, specifications, and client requirements. Review and approve key engineering deliverables, design decisions, and technical deviations. Ensure effective integration between engineering disciplines to prevent design conflicts. Champion engineering best practices, standards, and continuous improvement initiatives. Participate in HAZOP, PHA, and safety-in-design reviews as required. Cross-Functional & Client Coordination Serve as the primary engineering interface with clients, vendors, licensors, and third-party stakeholders, with a strong emphasis on client engagement. Coordinate closely with procurement teams on vendor selection, technical bid evaluations, and equipment submittals. Collaborate with construction teams to support safe, efficient, and executable field implementation. Support commissioning and startup teams by ensuring design completeness, system operability, and documentation accuracy. Participate in interface management activities to proactively resolve technical, schedule, and execution conflicts. Schedule & Cost Control Partner with project controls teams to develop, manage, and maintain engineering schedules. Monitor engineering budgets, manpower forecasts, and productivity metrics. Identify and address scope growth, cost impacts, or schedule risks early. Support proposal development, scope definition, and engineering estimates when required. Continuous Improvement & Innovation Drive lessons learned initiatives and applied improvements across projects. Promote innovation, modularization, and adoption of new engineering technologies and tools. Support digital engineering initiatives, including BIM, 3D modeling, and data integration platforms. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Structural, or related discipline) from an accredited institution. 12 years of engineering experience within EPC, industrial construction, energy, or infrastructure environments. 5 years of leadership experience managing multi-discipline engineering teams. Strong understanding of EPC project delivery methodologies and lifecycle phases. Proven ability to manage complex projects with multiple stakeholders and tight schedules. Preferred Qualifications Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent. Experience supporting large industrial, data center, power generation, or process cooling projects. Experience with modular or prefabricated construction methodologies. Familiarity with project controls systems, engineering management software, and 3D design platforms.
