Job Summary Responsible for supporting the execution of work in the field to include, supporting field teams with Safety, closeout and punch-list items, and supporting the logistical needs of the field leadership team and trade partners with the day-to-day completion of their assigned tasks. The Field Technician should be a flexible, detail-oriented individual that will thrive performing in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment, with the ability to multi-task, produce quality deliverables, and meet project-based deadlines. Utilize independent judgement, problem-solving ability, and prioritization based on relevant factors Good communication skills to articulate challenges and success stories to internal and external clients Tracks and assists with closing out project punch list items and/or identified quality issues with completed work Supports Trade Partners and the project team with logistical items during work activiteis to include clean up, lay down operations, scheduling, tools, material, and equipment sourcing, Informs Superintendent of any quality deficiencies Study and analyze construction drawings and shop drawings to confirm or otherwise establish the planned layout dimensions and elevations for the project Inform Superintendent of any variations in the project dimensions and elevations, and assist company and subcontractor personnel to (1) understand the layout, and (2) identify the precise locations of the elements being installed Other functions as may be required or assigned by Project Superintendent or other authorized individual, including making suggestions of alternative construction methods and techniques, and/or developing interpretations of vague or conflicting information, etc. Ability to quickly learn new hardware/software tools Serve as an ambassador for efforts and services internally/externally and collaborate with project teams Travel up to 50% of the time, to various construction sites; plan and execute multiple projects daily Ability to work flexible hours due to project or site constraints, including occasional early, late, or weekend hours Management Responsibilities None Knowledge/Skills/Ability The ability to work closely with the field team to learn the superintendent roles and responsibilities. Good people and leadership skills directing labor and working with trade partners. Problem solving skills and the ability to work towards finding a solution to the problems. Skill in observing two dimensional drawings or pictures and understanding how they will look in three dimensions as solid objects. Ability to read and interpret construction documents. Experience with VDC technologies such as Revit, AutoCAD, Navisworks, and other similar software systems is a plus. Education High School Degree or vocational training or an equivalent combination of education, technical training and experience. Experience 0-2 years construction field experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. May be required to work long hours for extended periods of time. Observing (seeing well, either naturally or with correction), as in reading detailed blueprints, drawings, sketches and plans at close proximity. Seeing and observing at a distance as in making visual assessments of the exact location of a marker when viewed through a surveyor’s instrument. Special Job Dimensions The office provides a safe and healthy work environment, is adequately heated and cooled, is free from exposure and extreme conditions, has appropriate lighting and office furnishings, and is smoke-free and drug-free. While performing the duties of this position in the fabrication shop, warehouse, maintenance shop or at a project site, the employee could be regularly exposed to any number of the following, including, but not limited to: moving mechanical parts; moving machinery; high, precarious places (including, but not limited to, being raised several hundred feet in a bucket); close tight quarters; rough and sloped terrain; fumes or airborne particles; drilling and blasting activities; welding activities; toxic or caustic chemicals; the potential of falling rock; and outside weather conditions. The employee may be occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is generally loud.
