contributeValmont is currently seeking a highly motivated and
talented individual for the Electronic Technician position in the
Maintenance department. We are looking for a highly driven
individual that will perform highly skilled and technical work
involving installation, programming, and maintenance, and repairs,
with little or no supervision. Additionally, you will--
- Troubleshoots and repairs PLC-- s and CNC equipment, AC and DC
motor drives, High Frequency welding systems, radio controlled
devices, closed -circuit TV, and various other solid state
controlled equipment.
- Troubleshoots and repairs overhead cranes, specialized
production equipment in the Tapered Tube Facility, high-frequency
induction equipment, CNC and NC equipment, communications
equipment, and electrical distribution equipment. Troubleshoots and
repairs complicated magnetic circuits.
- Program and edit programs on PLC-- s to run the most
efficient.
- Designs or modifies electronic/electrical systems to enhance
equipment performance or safety.
- Installs, troubleshoots, and repairs various types of
electrical, motor circuits, and control circuits in accordance with
the National Electrical Code.
- Install all types of electrical distribution equipment
including high and low voltage switchgear, buss ways, gutters,
disconnects, conduits, and cables in accordance with the National
Electric Code.
- Installs controllers and control equipment. Can modify
equipment as necessary to adapt it for current requirements.
- Performs routine electrical tasks such as installation and
repair of lighting fixtures, appliances, welding machines, and
motors.
- Performs electrical troubleshooting and repair on all plant and
production equipment.
- Performs preventive maintenance of all type machinery and
equipment.
- Inspects machines for faulty wiring, excessive wear, and unsafe
conditions.
- Reports unsafe conditions immediately, and takes immediate
action to get them corrected.
- Uses troubleshooting aids such as volt, ohm, and amp meters,
oscilloscopes, and digital read outs, and accurately interprets
readings to identify problems.
- Performs service work efficiently with no supervision.
- May be called at irregular hours to handle emergency situations
at the plant.
- Uses National Electric Code and local codes to assure that all
systems are in compliance.
- Identifies and reports equipment abnormalities and safety
hazards.
- Uses math skills including addition, subtraction,
multiplication and division of decimals and fractions to compute
power, current, voltage, and resistance. Uses schematics, and
blueprints to analyze complex electrical and electronic
circuits.
- Decides whether equipment can run or must be shut down.
Determines power requirements and adequacy of existing and proposed
circuits. Design and modify circuits when necessary to satisfy
changing requirements. Decides whether circuits meet NEC, OSHA, and
Valmont requirements. Decisions will often affect safety of others,
including potentially life-threatening situations.
- Communicates with coworkers, supervisors, and all other shop
departments regarding the maintenance and repair of equipment via
notes, E-mail, or verbal communication.
- Records labor, repairs made, downtime, and use of
materials.
- Performs housekeeping duties in shop and at work-site.
- Maintains test equipment, tools, and motor vehicles in good
condition.
- Operates forklifts, man-lifts, and cherry picker.
- Other duties as assigned.What it takes Required Qualifications
- Has knowledge of AC and DC circuits
- Has broad knowledge of solid-state circuits, and function of
components
- Must know how to use and interpret oscilloscope and digital
test equipment.
- Read and write clearly
- Intermediate to advanced shop math
- Must either be a graduate of an acceptable Technical Training
School in the area of electrical maintenance, or any other
maintenance related field, or have a minimum of 3 to 5 years--
experience in a maintenance related field.
- PC literate (PLC software, Windows, etc) Highly qualified
candidates will also possess:
- Five years-- experience in an Industrial Maintenance role
