Job Title Professor & Extension Specialist Agency Texas A & M Agrilife Extension Service Department Soil & Crop Sciences Proposed Minimum Salary Commensurate Job Location College Station, Texas Job Type Faculty Job Description Responsibilities:-Program Planning Plan and coordinate educational programs with appropriate District Extension Administrators (DEAs), RPDs, CEAs and Extension Specialists related to adopt profitable sustainable and water efficient cotton production systems. Work closely with County Extension Agents, other extension specialists, research faculty, and the cotton industry at the local, state and national level to develop and implement high quality educational programs, applied field research as well as conventional and electronic publications to inform the public on issues related to the sustainable production of cotton. Work with other federal and state agencies to identify and develop coordinated and effective programs to address these concerns. Assist in RPDs in planning CEA trainings. Communicate with the project unit leader and Associate Department Head as necessary regarding significant program issues and concerns to ensure awareness and consistency with Extension goals.-Faculty and Staff Training/Assistance Conduct in-service training per requests from DEAs/RPDS to The incumbent will provide leadership with regional, state and national cotton groups, serving as a liaison with the industry; linking research and Extension programming with the needs of the cotton industry. Duties include a significant travel schedule, field research, numerous educational meetings of varying formats, creation of publications and other scholarly work to assist Texas producers in adopting profitable, sustainable and water efficient cotton production systems.-Implementation of Education Programs Coordinate with Extension faculty and other cooperating agencies, private industry and individuals in organizing and conducting educational meetings, field days, and tours. Review research developments and interpret findings for all appropriate clientele. Use various media outlets to reach the general public with information regarding environmental stewardship and protection and conservation of natural resources. Respond to individual client requests for information via mail, e-mail, telephone, office visits and direct contacts.-Other Participate in professional organizations. Participate in technical subject matter meetings and tours. Serve and represent Extension on professional committees, boards, etc. as appropriate. Pursue opportunities for professional development through attendance at appropriate professional meetings, workshops, conferences and educational events.-Perform other related duties as required. Required Education: Ph.D. in related field Required Experience: 5 years of related experience Required knowledge, Skills and Abilities:-Computer competencies required. Strong service ethic and desire to work with all audiences in assigned county, regardless of socioeconomic level, race, color, sex, religion, disability or national origin. Abilility to communicate effectively. All positions are security-sensitive.
