Assistant/Associate Professor in Multicultural Education/Teacher Education/Culture and Curriculum The Department of Teaching, Learning, and Culture invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in multicultural education/teacher education/culture and curriculum at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor to begin in the 2019-2020 academic year. Required Qualifications include a)an earned doctorate in education with a depth of study and research in multicultural education, or a closely related field; b) a record of research-based publications; c) a record of or strong potential for extramural funding commensurate with experience; and d) strong evidence of commitment to diversity and engagement in professional leadership activities. Preferred Qualifications include a) experience in multicultural education instruction in teacher education, curriculum and instruction or within a specific content area of teacher education e.g. science, technology, engineering or technology education, literacy, urban education, ESL, social studies, English language arts, as an interdisciplinary approach; b) experience in teaching multicultural education principles and evidence-based practices in content-area instruction particularly for students in urban environments and/or at-risk for academic difficulties; c) application and integration of new technologies and evidence-based interventions in multicultural education responsive to the diverse, highly impacted and underrepresented student populations; d)evidence of effective post-secondary teaching experience; e) engagement in service activities within an academic department. Responsibilities: A successful candidate is expected to conduct research, teach graduate and undergraduate courses in multicultural education, multicultural education in teacher education/culture and curriculum or fields of study within a specific content area of teacher education e.g. science, technology, engineering or technology education, literacy, urban education, ESL, social studies, English language arts, and mentor graduate students. The candidate is also expected to seek external funding from a variety of sources to support research activities, and to contribute to the on-going activities and initiatives of the Department, College, and University.
