Job Description Job Description 3rd Shift: Sunday-Thursday
10:00pm-8:00am JOB SUMMARY The Technician III performs maintenance
tasks for company assets and assists maintenance staff with
overhauling minor components and installing replacements, with
electrical, hydraulic and computer diagnostics and with scheduled
and unscheduled preventative maintenance. This position also
responds to service and road calls. CORE RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Wear
appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when and where
required. 2. Report immediately any safety violations and
correcting unsafe acts or conditions. 3. Comply with company safety
policies and with applicable state and federal regulations. 4. May
be required to drive a vehicle with a gross vehicle weight (GVW)
not to exceed 26,000 pounds. 5. Perform preventative maintenance or
repairs on company assets according to work pending reports,
vehicle condition reports, preventative maintenance schedules and
the direction of the maintenance staff. 6. Document repair
operations and time tracking in accordance with company procedures.
7. Requisition parts as necessary. 8. Perform failure analysis and
reporting findings to maintenance management. 9. Maintain service
truck readiness including safety equipment, tools, equipment and
cleanliness. 10. Diagnose and triage assets and prioritize repairs.
11. Assist co-workers with diagnostics and repairs. 12. Train new
hires on the proper processes of repairs. 13. Conduct quality
checks on repairs made by co-workers. 14. Conduct technical
inspections and document findings. 15. Participate in root cause
analysis on rework and faulty parts. 16. Maintain repair order
documentation to include repair description, parts used and repair
times. 17. Perform monthly inventories as required. 18. Ensure the
work area is clean and neat. 19. Other duties as assigned. REQUIRED
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS - At least three years of heavy truck or
equipment maintenance experience including experience performing
maintenance on Class 8 trucks and heavy equipment - Must possess
own tools - Working knowledge of hydraulic systems, air brakes,
wheel end, electrical components, troubleshooting and diagnostic
abilities - Familiarity with shop equipment and OEM diagnostic
software, such as Tech tool, Cummins Insite, Allison Doc, Bendix,
etc.Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English -
Effective time management skills - Mechanical aptitude -
Demonstrated aptitude for maintaining and repairing equipment -
Ability to read labels, safety warnings, and guidelines - Ability
to learn basic computer skills to communicate document daily work
and progress, track procurements and repair status - Ability to pay
attention to detail and remain alert to ensure safety - Ability to
understand and follow instructions and to communicate with
co-workers - Ability to function effectively in a fast-paced
environment PREFERRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS - High school diploma
or its equivalent - Formal diesel and heavy equipment training -
Completion of an accredited technical school two-year program -
Texas Class B Commercial Driver's License REQUIRED LICENSES &
CERTIFICATIONS - Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certified or
ability to obtain certification - Valid Class C Driver’s License -
Safe driving history for the past three years - Current State
Inspector License or the ability to obtain one within 90 days of
employment
