Job Description:

Program Description: This position is responsible for managing the company's balance sheet, cost accounting, A/P process and Revenue Recognition. The Assistant Controller shall oversee all reporting and budgeting functions including but not limited to excel based reporting as well as reporting from the ERP system and any add on modules. Assistant controller will actively participate in account reconciliations, monthly closings, financial package preparations, audits and tax as well as the mentoring and training of the accounting staff. This position is also responsible for testing the Company's financial controls and policies as well as the maintenance of its fiscal records.

--- Supervise and Train the Accounting staff.
--- Test and improve financial controls and accounting procedures
--- Ensure full transparency over the financial performance of the company
--- Maintain speed and accuracy of billings and client payments
--- Participate in annual audits including Tax Audits.
--- Participate in the month-end financial closing process and ensure transactions are recorded timely and accurately.
--- Responsible for account reconciliations as assigned and un-assigned.
--- Prepares monthly schedules and reports, including P&L, earnings analysis, revenue recognition, operating income, and account reconciliations and Project costs
--- Supports month-end consolidation.
--- Ensures process and procedure management & improvement by establishing and monitoring the implementation and maintenance of accounting control procedures, resolve accounting discrepancies and ensures continuous management of reporting activities.
--- Maintains and improves financial operations to ensure that recommendations from auditors are implemented in a timely manner.
--- Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, anticipating future legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, filing financial reports, and advising the Board of Directors on needed actions
--- Manages the ERP system in coordination with internal ERP group and offsite consulting firm.
--- Takes Lead position in monitoring of Project Reporting and Budgeting for Projects
--- Maintains Fixed asset system

Position Specifications
Qualification Requirements:

Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor's Degree: Accounting, finance, or other related discipline; MBA preferred
Minimum of 20 years' experience: Relevant accounting and financial principles in a public or private sector; 10+ years in progressively responsible financial leadership roles; biotechnology/ manufacturing experience preferred
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations CPA / CMA preferred
Advanced Knowledge of accounting and financial principles
Advanced Knowledge of Multi-currency, Multi-company consolidations
Intermediate Knowledge and experience in tax matters
Advanced Enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, GP or Microsoft Dynamics preferred
Advanced Skill in budgeting, report writing, and financial analysis
Advanced Skill in documentation and attention to detail
Advanced Skill in Microsoft Excel

Language Abilities:
Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, memos, and work place policies. Ability to analyze, interpret general business periodicals, procedures and governmental regulations. Ability to analyze and interpret technical research journals. -Ability to write professional correspondences. -Ability to present information in small group and large group situations to customer, strategic business partners, the general public, and other employees. -Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the community. Ability to effectively present information to administrators, top management, public groups, community, and Board of Directors.
Mathematical Abilities:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and design and interpret charts and graphs to communicate business issues. Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inferences to business issues.
Reasoning Abilities:
Ability to carry out detailed written and/or verbal instructions. Ability to solve practical and critical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form to carry out objectives. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret a variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
