What we want The College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences is seeking an Assistant Dean for Finance and Administration to be responsible for the financial operations of our college, performing advanced business management and administration. This Assistant Dean for Finance and Administration assists and advises the Dean of the college in organizing, planning, and coordinating the business aspects of college administrative programs to ensure maximum efficiency and effectiveness. This individual exercises extensive latitude in the use of initiative and independent judgment and exhibits a high level of integrity and dependability. Other responsibilities of this position include: providing leadership and direction for college business management functions and biennial budget requests and annual operating budgets. We foresee this individual will understand the nature of our college, and be able to champion our efforts to grow and strategically develop to ensure our continued success. For COVID-19 employment-related information, please visit the Division of Human Resources and Organizational Effectiveness COVID-19 website (https://employees.tamu.edu/covid-19/index.html) .Required Education and Experience:+ Master's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.+ Six years of related senior administrative experience.Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:+ Excellent written and oral communication skills.+ Demonstrated ability to provide leadership, guidance, and supervision to a wide variety of people at all levels in an organization.+ High level of proficiency in a PC Windows environment and proficiency in use of Excel.+ Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.+ Ability to work as part of an academic team fulfilling the mission of the college in teaching, research, service, and patient care.Preferred Education and Experience:+ Master's degree in Business Administration.+ Eight years of experience in a business environment, to include at least five years of related experience in an academic setting.+ Three years of related academic administrative experience at TAMU or a comparable institution.Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:+ High level of proficiency in the use of financial software.Responsibilities:+ Public Information Liaison - Serves as the primary public information liaison coordinator for the college.+ Executive Committee - Serves as a member of the college's executive committee and the Dean's executive staff.+ Representative - Represents the college in communication with university, system, and agency financial counterparts. Participates on councils, committees, task forces, and working groups of these organizations. Works with counterparts at the university, agency, and system levels in developing improved policies and regulations, and improved accounting, statistical, support service, and other systems as needed. Serves as a college liaison with various campus and system entities, including administration, academic affairs, financial management services, contract administration, purchasing, risk management, property control, general counsel, and internal audit.+ Supervision - Directs and oversees the work of personnel providing accounting and human resources support services to the College. Directs and oversees the work of personnel providing programming and data analysis services to the College. Directs and oversees the work of personnel providing scholarship and student financial aid information to veterinary students. Directs and oversees the work of personnel providing service in VBEC Shipping and Receiving.+ Management - Manages the day-to-day business operations of the college. Approves routine financial documents (including payroll and personnel documents) and general administrative paperwork requiring the signature of the Dean, utilizing the approval and signature authority delegated by the Dean of the college.+ Financial Operations and Advising - Evaluates administrative and financial operations from a college perspective, and presents recommendations for revisions when necessary. Provides policy and procedure interpretation on financial and administrative matters, and advises college and departmental administrative staff regarding policies and procedures, including changes and updates.+ Budget - Coordinates the preparation and administration of the annual operating budget for the college. Provides long-range budget planning expertise and direction for integrating the annual budget preparation with the college and University's strategic priorities and initiatives.+ Reporting - Oversees the preparation of complex financial reports for the college, including the annual Comparative Data Report for the American Association of Veterinary Medical Colleges. Assists with Legislative Appropriations Requests and other financial reports requested by the Dean and TAMU administration.+ Performs other duties as assigned.
